The Impossible Dream is a stately catamaran with a mast 85 feet high. And it’s the only catamaran that was built from the ground up to be accessible for people with disabilities. On its trip up the east coast this summer, the boat stopped at ports in Boston, Portland and other cities, inviting disabled guests to come aboard for a sail. There have been famous visitors like Former President George H.W. Bush and his wife Barbara and guests whose names you won’t recognize. This summer I made my way up the ramp of the Impossible Dream in Mystic, Connecticut with 16 other guests including Deborah Mellen who has made the Impossible Dream a dream come true for disabled sailors.
