For this piece, Carole descended 11 stories underground to report on one of the most expensive and ambitious public works projects currently under construction in the US—a 2-mile stretch that is estimated to cost $4.5 billion. The idea for a new subway line that would make travel more convenient for riders on the east side of Manhattan, first came up nearly 100 years ago and is scheduled for completion in late 2016.
